ISLAND BIKE TOUR - PAŠMAN AND UGLJAN

Island Bike Tour

map of Pašman and Ugljan self-guided bike tour

Pašman and Ugljan Island bike tour starts on the island of Ugljan. It is called “the green island” because of the numerous olive groves and pine tree forests. The road takes you along the seaside, the beautiful bays and beaches, and the charming villages. During Pašman & Ugljan Island tour you can discover preserved nature and traditional way of life.

Ždrelac Bridge connects Ugljan and Pašman so you can visit both islands on the same day. There are constant changes in the current in this part of the coast. For this reason, the island Pašman has the cleanest water in the Adriatic.

In short, if you like swimming in crystal clear water, this is the right place! Join us on an exciting Pašman & Ugljan self guided-tour and explore picturesque villages and amazing, breathtaking landscapes.

The best bike rental company in Zadar! We enjoyed a great day trip with bicycles from Zzuum.

Their location in Old Town was convenient to pick up the bikes. They hooked us up with a panier, maps, and recommendations for taking the ferry and exploring Ugljan island. The bicycles were in excellent shape, with sturdy tires and shocks in case of unpaved roads.

Zzuum was great to work with. They also lead excursions, adventure tours, and guided cycling holidays. We highly recommend them if you're visiting Zadar.

Highly recommended! Nicolas was very helpful in organising our cycling tour of Uglian and Dugi Otok. The bikes he provided us with were in great condition and very well equipped with panniers, water bottle, tools etc. We booked our own accommodation (as his recommendations were fully booked) and Nicolas provided the bikes, suggested routes and transfers, including a private boat transfer from Pasman to Dugi Otok and luggage transfers as required. The transfers all worked faultlessly with very pleasant drivers. I'll also add that Nicolas was very patient and helpful with our requests and was a pleasure to do business with.
    Highly recommended!

Fitleafsof - Karma retreats Nicolas and his team were really friendly and very helpful with the bike set up etc...for our Karma fitness and yoga retreat group. The island was beautiful and the maps etc were very straightforward. There’s an amazing restaurant at Kali right on the water. Part of group did the hill cycle to St Michal view point. This is not a leisurely cycle so would only advise to cycle this if your prepared for steep climbs....saying that the view was well worth it in the end - stunning!
Would definitely recommend the trip & we will definitely go through Zzuum and Nicholas when we are back in Croatia hosting our next Karma retreat 🙂

Rented bikes to explore Ugljan Island My husband and I rented bikes so that we could explore Ugljan Island. My husband spoke to Nicolas who ensured all the bikes were ready for our arrival and he provided maps and routes so that we could get the most out of our day’s ride. The bikes were high quality Marin’s which were really comfortable to ride. We had a brilliant day and highly recommend Zzuum if you are thinking of hiring bikes in Zadar.

Perfect last day in Croatia This was such an ideal day, picking up a bicycle, fully functional, maps, ferry tickets and tips for what to see on the islands. I would recommend doing this over 2 days if you want to do justice to Pasman and Ugljan Islands, there's so much to see and many places to swim. The islands are idyllic, covered in ancient olive groves and terracotta coloured houses. Highly recommend using Zzuum and getting yourself and a bicycle over to Zadar's islands, well worth it.

Guided E-bike trip to Ugljan island Had an absolute wonderful day trip, thanks also to our super guide Luca, to Ugljan island. The e-bikes were brand new and Luca was a very very good and inspiring guide with huge knowledge of many things. A real pleisure to talk with. If ever we visit Zadar again we will sure make a cycling trip with Zzuum and Luca as our guide, again.

Great bike service in Zadar I had one day and didn't know what to do. They helped me a lot and I spent a great day cycling around an island. Totally recommend and can't thank you enough.

Excellent bike hire We hired a couple of bikes from here, took over on the ferry to Ugljan. The mountain bikes provided were excellent quality, and certainly felt safe and reliable. We did have a couple of punctures (unlucky in one trip!), but luckily we'd been kitted out with spare inner tubes and tools so we could change the tyres easily enough. Fabulous day trip...hiring the bikes meant we were able to see more of the island.

  • Very helpful, we wanted to start a ride on dugi otok but the ferry schedule was not suitable, the manager suggested we go on preko because there is more ferry. This advice we were allowed to go for a ride in the best conditions. The bikes are in good condition and group rates are interesting.

Perfect We went there ahead of time to find out what this would be all about. They were extremely helpful. We arranged a time for the next day. At the end of September, they seemed to have plenty of extra bikes. They gave us bottles of flavored mineral water and snacks to take with us. They told us how to get to the ferry for biking the island. I admit we were a little confused trying to find the ferry but after I spent more time looking at the map they gave us, it was really my fault. They provided a pack on the bike so we could put our extra things on the bike instead of our backpacks. The island is super beautiful. We biked a lot and had a nice dinner at a quiet restaurant along the sea.

Zadar to Uglian Island - Ferry and Bicycle Tour This was one of my favorite days on my last trip to Croatia. At the last minute I purchased a day tour for a self-guided bicycle tour of Uglian Island. I picked up my bicycle and gear at ZZuum Active Vacation in old town Zadar. The price included outbound and return ferry tickets, the bike, a map, a discount coupon to a restaurant, a drink and snack. I caught a Jadrolinija ferry from the port to Uglian Island and in 25 minutes I was cycling the island. There are beautiful views, villages to explore, and places to swim. It was a great day, and the representative at ZZuum was friendly and efficient.

Excellent bike & route tips I visited Zadar in early October. As I was looking to explore one of the islands by bike, I stumbled upon Zzuum as suggested by Google. Compared to some other rental places, this looked the cheapest one. I went there in the morning and as October isn't the busiest time of the year, there still were some bikes left (in summer I suggest making a reservation in advance) - I paid around €15 and could have the bike until the next morning. I had a route on my phone, but fortunately one of the people there, told me about a flood a few days before that, so he advised me to take another route. He gave me a map and showed me the way to follow and which ferry to take. I really was a nice route (starting in Preko on the island Ugljan), with some nice climming and good downhill tracks as well. Thanks for the advice, if I'm ever around again, I know what place to go to!

Great bike tour to Ugljan The bikes we hired were brand new and Nicolas prepared everything for us according to our height. We were provided by spare tyres, maps, energy drinks. The location of the office is great as you can easily ride to the ferry port.
It was a real adventure for our kids, we enjoyed the nice views and the hidden beaches.
Zzuum staff is very professional, I recommend their service and hope to come back soon for another tour.
    Thank you Zzuum !

Friendly bike rental service This was the only physical bike rental space that we found on Zadar. The others deliver.
Zzuum staff were friendly, gave us island maps and ferry times, and the bikes were fine.
The cycle paths on Ugljan are not well marked! But Zzuum's advice on hidden swimming coves was perfect and we had a great day without the crowds.
Remember to go to the (very modern and efficient) Gazenica ferry port with the bikes to get to the islands, and not the pedestrian-only ferry in the Old Town.
The next day we cycled to Nin. Again cycle path signs are not good and all the one way route out of Zadar is against you. But this made coming back a doodle! Nin is spectacular with the salt pans and very exposed beach. Mid August is not the time to go! Crowds and too hot for those withnsun-sensitive skin

Day trip to Ugljan We hired two great, well maintained bikes from ZZuum for a day trip to Ugljan Island. As we wished to take them with us on the early ferry they kindly allowed us to pick the bikes up the evening before we left. When we collected the bikes the staff member was extremely helpful with information, maps, cycle routes and even all necessary ferry information. We had the best day - the bikes were great to ride and we think very good value. We would most certainly recommend their service.

Cycling and enjoying without worries We did the self-guided trip to the island Ugljan with our 2 kids. Zzuum reservated the tickets for the boat to Preko. They also have given us useful information and a map with the tours you can cycle on the island. The bikes were perfect and we got drinks and energybars.
The path next to the sea led us to Kali and Kukljica, 2 nice villages. Everywhere you have the opportunity to have a swim.
We have enjoyed our daytrip. The kids were also very ecxited.

Great trip to Ugljan We took the bike trip to Ugljan Island. It was a package including bike, ferry tickets and more. Price was 37 eur/person which is a very fair price. Bikes were in excellent condition.
At Ugljan we took the trail to sv. Mihovil, highest point of the island. It's a tough climb but worth the effort. After that we followed the coastline trail to the end of the island at Gospa Snjezna and back.
Very nice trip and really recommendable if you are seeking an active holiday.
None of us we're experienced mountain bikers but there a so many trails at the island that you can suit it for every level.

Good bikes & exellent service We rented our bikes online, and everything was well prepared when we arrived in Zadar. The bikes were good, and took us around on asphalt and dirt roads in Zadar, Ugljan, Patsmani and Dugi Otok. We especially got fond of the coast road from Preko all the way down to Tkon, and the area around Sali. Two tips : Need a break from biking ? - try one day on a guided kayak tour ! (zzuum knows who to contact) Note that the boats between Zadar and Sali usually don't take bikes in the high season !
    Conclusion : highly recommended !

Ugljan Island Self-Guide Bike Tour Great day out on Ugljan Island! We booked a day out on Ugljan Island for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children). Filip was very helpful, taking the time to explain the route and the best places to visit and even making the effort to bring us some water when we got to the top of Tvrđava Sv. Mihovil. The views are breathtaking and well worth the effort. If you plan to go with small children and take a trailer (as we did) then make sure you get clear instructions from Filip, as some of the coastal paths are very narrow. Overall a great day out and fun for all the family.

Wonderful deal, incredible experience! Ugljan is beautiful, and being able to see so much of it both on and off road was a truly amazing experience. The views are breathtaking; everywhere you look, you're astounded. The bikes are very very good quality and handled all different kinds of terrain without any issues what so ever - they even provide puncture repair kits, inner tubes, and a pump just in case which is very handy (although thankfully unneeded). Wouldn't recommend doing this in the peak of summer as we were there in April and the temperature was in the mid 20s (weather was wondrous also, clear skies and a brilliant sun overhead, light wind) and I don't think I could've cycled around for 6 hours if it were any hotter.

Be sure to take lots of water with you as once you go off into the island, if you run out, you run out and the last thing you want to do is double back and waste time. (Got through about 2-3 litres total, though bought another litre whilst there).

ONE GREAT EXPERIENCE ON TWO WHEELS

Pašman & Ugljan

KALI

Village Kali is the biggest village on the Ugljan Island but also the biggest village of all Zadar islands. Its history goes back to the 13th century. This picturesque village is most famous for its fishing tradition, in the first place tuna fishing. Also, it is known for excellent homemade olive oil produced from the olives that grow on hundreds of years old olive trees. As a matter of fact, tradition and modern way of life live side by side in this dynamic and remarkable village.

PAŠMAN

Pašman village is situated on the island of Pašman which is connected with Ugljan island by the bridge. This village is first mentioned in 11th century under the name Postimana. It has two beautiful sandy beaches and a few ports with moorings but also a several restaurants with high quality and fresh local food. Those who like long walks in the nature will be able to enjoy the smell of aromatic herbs that grow in abundance on Pašman fields. To sum up, no wonder Pašman has become popular tourist destination!

ĆOKOVAC MONASTERY

Benedictine monastery Ćokovac is located on the top of 95m high hill. It was first built in the 11th century. Since then it was devastated several times and built again, last time in the 14th century by the Benedictines themselves. As a result of its position, it has been the guardian of the Pašman Channel for centuries. Today it is not only the place of peace and quite for the monks who live there but also the site with the breath taking view on the area of Kotari, Vrana and mountains Dinara and Velebit.
